*** LeadingAge Virginia Welcomes New President & CEO ***

Melissa Andrews, LeadingAge Virginia President & CEO

LeadingAge Virginia is pleased to welcome our new President & CEO, Melissa Andrews. Prior to joining LeadingAge Virginia, Melissa served as vice president of member relations and board development at the national LeadingAge office in Washington, DC.

In her 14-year tenure at LeadingAge, Melissa worked closely with state partners, corporate sponsors, and members to further both their and LeadingAge's missions. Through her board development role, she has focused on helping organizations think and plan strategically to support their mission and achieve their ultimate vision.

As Melissa said to our members this week, "As we begin this new chapter for LeadingAge Virginia, I see a blank canvas framed in collegiality, shared mission, and not-for-profit values. On it, we can paint anything we want. It will require many colors, many techniques, and probably take many iterations. But I know that together, we can create a beautiful masterpiece."

*** 2016 LeadingAge Virginia Conference and Trade Show Spotlight ***

"Be the Difference" was the theme for the 2016 LeadingAge Virginia Annual Conference and Trade Show, held in Williamsburg, VA in May.  From developing resident-centered policies to delivering the best possible quality of care, from creating innovative solutions to operational and clinical challenges to developing and implementing a strategic vision for delivering care in the future, from extending a smile to brighten someone’s day to thanking a team member for a job well done, we’re presented with countless opportunities each day to make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.  This year's Opening General Session began with a short documentary film illustrating how and why we truly do make a difference.
